When sending a shipment by sea we need to know the following information

Transport requirements. Some companies use owner drivers. BEWARE costs for a container from Wellington to Palmerston can be around $1000NZ for cartage as they charge for the return leg. |
It is important to note that many shipping companies do not assist clients with alternate costs or recommendations before the shipment arrives in Wellington. Time and time again customers get hit with outrageous costs from transporting their goods internally to receiving their goods after waiting 2 weeks to MAF inspection and customs charges. It is in your own interest to tell us exactly what you want to send before actually sending. eg. NZ is strict on copyright and items like clothing copies-Cucci, Red Bull, Louis Vitton bags etc are not allowed to be sent into NZ and they can levy a fine including confiscation of the goods. The same goes with cars: if you do not have a NZ compliance for a nerw car imported then you cannot register this car or you have not owned the vehicle outside NZ for 2 years and been out of NZ for 1 year then you cannot bring the car into NZ. The Bill of Lading (BIL) will have destination port listed and cannot be changed without a fee? Whoever receives your shipment is authorized by the shipping company to pass the goods on to you and act for you---do not change. If you have another shipping company acting on your behalf then you will be charged around $450+ to have the other shipping company uplift for you. If you have a local transport company who can deliver your shipment get a quote for a backload to cut costs for you. Again some well to do shipping companies do not offer this advice to customers and its normally too late once the goods are delivered. RUC (Road User Charges for trucks) are going up and you will pay for this as owner drivers bill the companies separately. One of our customers received an additional transport bill some 3 weeks after their main invoice arrived and wasn't expecting this when they were told the first bill was the complete one.
SENDING GOODS OUT OF NEW ZEALAND:
NZ is one of the most expensive places to ship out of due to being at the bottom of the world so shipping costs are higher as 30% containers in and out are empty.
When asking us for a quotation and you wish to send personal items please tell us exactly what you are shipping. Itemize all articles so we can tell you if you need fumigation, clearance from Customs and any other arrangements you might need. Any items of commercial value please indicate as the morte information we receive then we can offer you our opinions. Again having a cheap shipping price out does not necessarily mean it will be cheap. You might find at the other end the costs are over the moon. We will not quote you if you do not list all items you wish to ship as it is in your own interests due to customs on the receiving side. Try to work out how many cubic metres you need to ship. Min 1cbm and this means 1m x1m x1m. LCL = MEANS LOWER THAN CONTAINER LEVELS. Over 1cbm the price gets cheaper so the more you ship the cheaper it becomes and the same intoi NZ.
